Important information about our grooming services and salon policies
Thank you for considering DC Hardy for your dog's grooming needs. We are committed to providing quality, professional grooming services in a safe and comfortable environment. We offer a free personalised greeting appointment for new bookings, which includes a health check and coat assessment. By attending an appointment, you agree to our terms and policies.
A non-refundable £20 deposit is required at booking, which is deducted from the final grooming cost. The deposit is forfeited if an appointment is cancelled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours' notice. Please arrive on time for drop-off and collection. Late arrivals (more than 30 minutes past scheduled time) may result in the appointment being rescheduled. A £20 fee may be applied for missed appointments.
Prompt collection is important. A supervision fee of £10 per dog, per hour, will be charged if a pet is not picked up within one hour of the notified collection time. This policy aims to ensure pet comfort and accommodate busy periods.
We recommend bringing pets for grooming with minimum restraints. Pets are usually returned to the resting area wearing their collar or harness and lead for safety. DC Hardy is not responsible for damage or replacement costs of client-provided restraints or accessories.
Health and safety is our top priority. If fleas or parasites are detected, a mandatory flea bath using specialist shampoo will be performed. An additional £25 fee will be added to cover extra time, products, and deep cleaning to prevent contamination. In cases of heavy flea infestation, the groom may be stopped, and the owner requested to collect the dog immediately; the full grooming fee plus the flea cleaning charge will still apply. A thorough deep clean of the salon is required after an affected dog, which may result in appointment cancellations and additional charges due to loss of income.
Trimming a dog's nails may not always be possible due to fear-driven behaviour or extreme anxiety. If such a situation arises, the procedure will be stopped, and consulting a veterinarian will be recommended.
Pricing is based on breed, size, coat condition, and behaviour. Additional fees will apply for extra time, materials, and tools needed to de-mat unmaintained coats. Additional fees also apply for dogs whose temperament or health necessitates more time and care during the groom.
We reserve the right to suspend service if a groom cannot be safely completed under the Animal Welfare Act of 2006. A £20 fee will be charged if the dog needs bathing/drying by us, and behavioural training may be advised.
Aggressive or anxious dogs will be handled calmly, with muzzles or cones used if necessary. Grooming will stop if a dog is too distressed, and the owner will be contacted.
Grooming services are not provided for pregnant bitches, dogs in season, or dogs classified under the Dangerous Dogs Act. We appreciate your understanding of these safety restrictions.
In the event of serious injury or medical emergency, we will stop grooming immediately, assess the situation, transport the dog to a vet if necessary, and contact the owner or follow emergency instructions provided.
Owners must confirm their dog is up to date with vaccinations. There are health risks if not, and we reserve the right to request proof of vaccination records.
Puppies must be at least 12 weeks old and have completed their full vaccination course before their first grooming appointment. Proof will be required.
We love to showcase our work and would like to share photos of your dog with your permission. Personal information will not be shared. We welcome comments and reviews and commit to responding within 24 hours. Offensive comments may be removed.
We aim to provide high-quality products and services.
Refunds are not offered on completed grooming services. Please check your satisfaction before leaving. Corrections are easily made to ensure desired style and balance, while prioritizing the dog's health and safety.
Please notify us within 30 days with proof of purchase for faulty, damaged, or misdescribed items for refund/replacement. This excludes perishable goods or hygiene-risk products (e.g., used brushes, shampoos, opened treats).
